Pich Kiri Guest House Overview
Madame Deu is the hostess with the mostess as far as Sen Monorom is concerned. The petit woman speaks English well, and the sons who assist her in running the guesthouse are energetic and eager-to-please. Pich Kiri Guesthouse was the first lodging house to set up in Sen Monorom, and as of mid-2009, with a large, 47-room expansion, it is now by far the largest place to stay in town. She says the customers fueling her growth are mainly long-term NGO workers staying in the area as well as travellers. There's also a restaurant on the grounds that was built in 2008. Rooms are very clean, though the size of the complex and the lack of furniture give them a dormitory-like feel. Each has a TV, cold-water shower and massive, intricately-carved wooden chairs and bureaus -- so heavy the rooms were probably built around them. The twin beds in the double rooms are large enough to easily sleep two comfortably. The bulk of the rooms are in a couple of concrete row houses near the restaurant, but there are also cheaper wooden rooms for those on tight budgets. The restaurant is pretty good and a handy place for meeting others. Motorbikes can be rented here and trekking and elephant riding can also be organised.
